A Week in Instagram Pics

Zoo with friends. :)
She's been sleeping like this for over an hour. Grinning #vintage wearing #doublechin fellow. upload Being sick in bed takes on a whole new meaning when you're a mother. Latest peanut to get the GI plague and still smiling. This is love. Sara Nicolette masked and gloved up, brought us dinner and served us in the middle of the plague.

1. We took advantage of a supposed-to-be warm day (it was frigid) and the zoo's half price winter tickets and went with new friends (a few of our kids are missing from the pic).
2. I should have known something was going on when she-who-never naps fell asleep in this position for over an hour.
3. Grinning boy.
4. When you don't feel well, any pillow will do.  Fern gladly fills in.
5. My companions for a while during a day I spent in bed, under covers.  No sick days for mamas.
6. She-who-never-naps is also she-who-rarely-cuddles.  Sickness does have its slight benefits.
7. My friend Sara, who once taught my Sunday school class and whose babies I held in church as a teen (her son is now our son's small group leader), heard we were all sick with the GI plague, showed up with a big pot of chicken soup and biscuits, donned her gloves and facemask and served us dinner.  She then took Benjamin from me, who had been fussing for hours, so I could eat and promptly put him to sleep, and offered to clean or do whatever as needed.  This is love.
8. I don't have a photo, because the kids demolished them, but my sister covertly dropped off a roasted chicken and veggies, cookies and a box of my favorite girl scout cookies from my mom.  It's so nice to have to not worry about a few meals when everyone is at various stages of sickness and the house looks like a few tornadoes and dust bowls rolled through.

It looks to me like you are surrounded by love...Sara is a good I dream of being. Your kids are adorable...napping on the dog? I am pretty sure the dog is in heaven!! I know life isn't perfect and that you never try to portray that it is...but I do believe that you are living a good, intentional and content life just by chasing after God and leading your life in a Godly way. I enjoy your blog even though (and maybe because) we live very different lives. We have the Lord in common and I think as believers sometimes that's all we need to connect. Bless you and your family...xoxo

You don't have to publish this comment, but I am an avid reader of your blog and love it oh so much. I was saddened to read about the girl scout cookies. I pulled my daughter out of girl scouts when I found out that they are partnered with planned parenthood. Again, you don't have to publish my comment, just thought you might want to know. We won't even buy their cookies anymore. So sad.

Hi Carmine,
Thank you for sharing. I was aware of the connection between PP and girl scouts. Unfortunately, the same can be said about literally any large manufacturer and political affiliations/social affiliations that I don't support. Google any large food company, clothing store and see where their money goes. A few off the top of my head that support things with their money that we don't support are Old Navy, American Girl, and Disney. Don't forget our federal government, which pays for nearly every abortion with your and mine tax dollars.
