Can we just agree, weekends fly by too quickly?
Yesterday we snow-shooed (sp?) into the cabin, buried under wool blankets and quilts on sofas and in rockers while we started the wood stove, then watched a line of steam rise from each pair of the children's wet boots lined up in front if it.
Warmed by the fire and a pot of tea and bellies full of trail mix and oranges, Sean and the kiddos headed out for sledding while Benjamin and I stood watch from the top of the hill, sun shining down on crisp, glittering white.

Then we headed out, back down the quiet road to my dad and steplove mom's, for a visit and another session of drying out, eating stew, and drinking coffee.
To answer quickly a few recent questions on food:
The gf cranberry orange coffee cake recipe will be up soon (soon from the point of view of a mama of seven, smile) on www.freeeaters.blogspot.com
If I don't link to a recipe, then it is safe to assume that it is my own, and if you're interested in it, just let me know and I'll make sure to take pics the next time it is on the menu and put those up with the recipe.

Now for this week's menu. Our church begins every year with a two week time of fasting and prayer and so our menu has been meatless, simple and nourishing.
