Snack Ideas for Kids

Deliciousness via my stepmom for our Sept. Oct. Birthdays - Addie and Annaliese
Cheese slices
Turkey Pepperoni
Saltines with jam or honey
Homemade granola bars
Apple slices with peanut butter for dipping
Knox jello made with concord grape juice
Celery sticks with peanut butter inside and raisins lined up on top - Ants on a Log
Popped corn
Dried fruit
Peanuts in the shell are great for outside snacks; an added plus is they take the kids longer to eat than if I handed them already shelled ones
Sliced carrots, celery, sweet pepper with a bit of ranch dressing or sour cream for dipping
Homemade chex mix - Chex has a bunch of recipes on their website and I use generic chex
Homemade trail mix.  For some reason my children go giddy for a baggy of nuts, raisins, choc. chips, dried fruit and dry cereal
Mini muffins
Homemade yogurt/smoothie pops
Dried candied ginger slices
Store bought crackers
Roasted almonds
For snacks on the go I purchase organic lollipops, bagged fruit snacks and granola bars with no corn syrup when I see them on sale/clearance.  These work well for trips in the van when I know we'll be out all morning and are a great prompt for appropriate behavior
A spoonful of peanut, sunflower, or almond butter
Canned fruit
Salsa and nachos
Hummus with nachos, crackers, celery, carrot or pepper sticks
Sliced cucumber or tomato sprinkled with salt

These are the regulars around here.  We do snacks with lunch and then daily at three to tie us over till dinner. What healthy, economical options for snacks have you come up with in your home?

We love plain greek yogurt, with stevia and frozen or fresh berries. I feel like it's a great choice because it's low in sugar and high in protein for my vegetarian"ish" 6 year old.
