This thing we do...

The kiddos and I each have our *favorite* things to do together.

Annaliese and I sew and craft, Andrew and I animatedly discuss the ins and outs of history, Aiden and I "chef" in the kitchen, Ella and I laugh and goof, Addie and I cuddle and Chase and I... Chase and I sing. Just about every night before he climbs the steep wooden kitchen stairs to the boy's room and counts his blankets as they are layered over him I'll ask him what he'd like to sing. He has a few favorites and as he wiggles room in my lap he'll tell me what we'll sing.
Sean was kind to capture this little video last night... just zip down to the bottom of the page and mute the music...

I've found that this age is prime for imprinting hymns of the faith in their little minds. My 2yo can with little help sing 3 or 4 hymns... I never think of video. I should record him :)

We, too sing with or little ones at bed time. It's been a nightly routine for all 8 years of our daughter's life as well as our 6 year old son's. Often it is songs like Old McDonald or Twinkle little star with an occasional "this is my commandment" and This is the day". It's such a treasured time for me and I pray that it continues for many more years. My heart will be sad when they think they are too old to sing with their mom and dad at bed time.
p.s. you inspire me to be a better mom.

Precious-I miss those days. These days with the kids older are full of their own fun and richness, but baby days............

Sweet video! We sing to our youngest right before we place him into his crib for the night. Love Amazing Grace, wish I had a pretty voice like yours to sing it!
