Down the road, that is.

After being hammered by a early snow storm last week, today's sunny, bright weather was beautiful motivation to get out for a walk. We ended up lazily strolling past the farm and shouting a friendly greeting to the farmer who owns these gorgeous fields around us.

When the kiddos saw his horses out, they ran back for permission to visit them, which was quickly and kindly given. He has five of them and I know not much at all about horses but they are beautiful.

I love our country neighbors. There are at least seven teachers/educators nearby, one other homeschooling family, three farmers, a few stay at home mamas, several small business owners, our pediatrician, and a few retirees - all making for a lovely place to live.

Tonight, in the midst of all the election mayhem, we sat down as a family to venison stew and dumplings, then headed out across the country roads to the farmer who supplies us with fresh cool milk with cream that rises to the top.

Simple things soothe me. The children and I pet the furry newborn calves while Sean talked with his farmer friend about politics and economics while the milking went on.

I am so saddened by the place our country has ended up when I study with the children the passion and beliefs of our founders.

thankful that God's plans and purposes are not contingent on any mans politics or the tides of the economy or the greed of nations.

"...Oh that my ways may be established
To keep Your statutes!
Then I shall not be ashamed
When I look upon all Your commandments. "

And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.
Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts. "

Hi I have been reading your blog for awhile. Thanks for the encouraging words.
Enjoy the day!

Amen Sister!!
I needed some peace, and a break from watching the scary liberal media.....
No matter what, God (the one and ONLY) is in control.
The pictures of the horses are beautiful. You live in such a pretty area.
That's a sweet little baby face at the end there! Chase is really growing!

Thanks for the encouragement. No matter what the government may do, we have choices to live as God would have us do everyday. It definitely helps to remember that. He's in charge.
I always love your beautiful pictures. I wish we lived in such a gorgeous area!

AMEN!
I love the picture of christopher so close to the horse!! Upload it to walmart please?
And interesting food for thought - but I read a blog of a family that raised a ton of money for an adoption by selling their photography, might be something you want to consider with your mass amounts of free time spent lying around ;) haha (all your readers are going to think I'm horrible!!)
Katie, I love the photography idea. I wonder how long it would take to raise ten grand selling photos... Did they do it through their blog?
Thanks, Amelia!
Lynn, yes Chase is growing into my long stringbean boy!
Jen, I think if we ever look to the media or government to give us peace, we'd be waiting a loooong time!
Yup, through their blog and word of mouth. I know at the end they came up short and raised $4000 in a day and a half just by selling photos on their blog.

I left them a comment at one point - I love that they decided to pursue adoption before physically having children - and they sent me a reply email, more than willing to share their experiences and things they have learned along the adoption journey.
Hannah,
Thanks for the reminder that God stands forever, even when man makes foolish decisions.
I began to weep when Obama was announced the winner of the US presidency. It makes me sad to see people saying, essentially, "Thanks, anyway, God, for all the blessings we have, but we want a king & the government to take care of us. Go away, God." Even people who may not believe in God, were saying, we want this man to be president because of his skin color, or because they think the grass is greener under a socialist.
It makes me sad to see people deceived by a man and the media to the point of electing him even though he hasn't proven that he's allowed to (never released his real birth certificate or school records) & hasn't been held to account by the FEC & others who should be doing that, and has proven that he wants to confiscate what is not his.
My husband & I attended the election night rally of a friend who's also a local elected official. He is a fellow believer in the Lord. What a breath of fresh air when a just, Godly man is elected.
I'll spend some time reading Psalm 119. Is the verse you quoted from that passage?
I have recently found your blog and I can't put into words what an inspiration you and your family are to me. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. Your pictures are amazing!
Many continued blessings,
Lynette
That Gray Mare you took a picture of looks alot like our half Percheron/Thoroughbred Jordan!
